You know what? This here watch, it’s called a CopyOMEGA, or something like that. Speedmaster, they call it. Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon.” Fancy words for a fancy watch, I reckon. It’s all black and shiny, like a starless night sky. They say it’s like the moon, that dark side no one ever sees, ‘cept maybe them astronaut fellas way back when.
This here CopyOMEGA Speedmaster, it’s s’posed to be like them Apollo 8 fellas’ watches. You know, the ones who went round the moon in, what was it, 1968? Lordy, that was a long time ago. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun, don’t it? This watch, they say it’s for that mission, that Apollo 8 thing. It’s got the moon right there on it, but it ain’t real, you know. They put the moon’s face right on that watch dial, but it’s just a picture, I reckon. But it’s a right pretty picture, all the same.
They say it’s a “chronograph.” Sounds like somethin’ from one of them science shows on the TV, but I don’t know if that’s so. It’s got all these little dials and buttons. More dials than my old kitchen clock, that’s for sure. And it’s got this strap, they call it “Cordura.” Sounds tough, like that corduroy my old man used to wear. This here strap, it’s black, too, like the rest of the watch. Makes the whole thing look real sleek, like a black cat in the night.
I saw this watch, this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8, they was talkin’ ’bout it just the other day. Said it’s a new one, an update, they called it. Like they took the old one and made it even better. Now, I don’t know ’bout all that, but it sure does look nice. This here is a Dark Side of the Moon watch, it’s pretty, oh yeah. It’s somethin’ special, this watch.
This CopyOMEGA, it’s got a big ol’ case, 44.25mm, they say. That’s bigger than my thumb, I reckon. And it’s made of this black stuff, “ceramic,” they call it. Looks real sharp, like a brand-new knife. Not like them old rusty ones I got in my kitchen drawer. This ceramic, it’s all brushed and shiny, like a polished apple.

They been makin’ these Dark Side of the Moon watches for a while now, seems like. First one was back in 2018, I heard. Time sure does fly, don’t it? This new one, they say it’s even better than the old one. They keep making better things, that’s a good thing, right? They say it’s the newest one in the whole bunch, this here CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8. They brought it back, like an old friend comin’ home for supper.
This watch, it ain’t cheap. I heard them say it’s $12,000. Twelve thousand dollars! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I reckon. Could buy a whole lot of things with that kind of money. But this watch, it’s somethin’ special, I guess. It’s like a piece of history, they say. A piece of that Apollo 8 mission, right there on your wrist. Now, that is a real tribute.
This watch, it’s got this thing they call a “skeletonized dial.” Sounds kinda spooky, don’t it? Like somethin’ out of a scary movie. But it just means you can see all the insides of the watch, all the little gears and things movin’ around. It’s like lookin’ inside a tiny little machine. Kinda neat, I guess, if you’re into that sort of thing.
They say this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 is “perfectly suited” for that black Cordura strap. Like they was made for each other. Like a horse and carriage, or a pie and ice cream. They sure do look good together, I’ll give ’em that. The black strap and the black watch, it’s a match made in heaven, I reckon. Or maybe on the moon, since it’s the “Dark Side of the Moon” and all.
This whole thing, this whole CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 watch, it’s just “awesome,” they say. And I reckon they’re right. It’s a mighty fine watch, even if it is a bit too fancy for an old gal like me. But it sure is nice to look at. It’s like a little piece of the moon, right there on your wrist. And who wouldn’t want a piece of the moon? Even if it is just a copy.
They say it’s like the 42mm Speedmaster Professional models. Now, I don’t know what all them numbers and words mean, but it sounds important. Like somethin’ a real watch expert would know. I just know it’s a nice watch. A real nice watch. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? That’s what I think anyway. This CopyOMEGA thing is real good, yeah.
