Okay, let’s talk about this watch. I’ve been eyeing the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001 for a while now. I saw it in the official flagship store the other day, all shiny and new. I decided to make one myself.

Getting Started

It wasn’t easy, but I managed.
The Crafting Process

Then, the real work began. I carefully started to shape the case, trying to get that 39mm size just right. I used some tools I had lying around, nothing too fancy. Just some regular stuff you’d find in a toolbox. It was tough, I had to be careful not to mess it up.

After that, I worked on the dial. I cut it into a circle, trying to make it look like that charcoal gray color I saw in the store. It wasn’t perfect, but it kinda looked like the real thing, I guess. I even tried to make that little seconds dial at the bottom, you know, at the 6 o’clock position. It was a real pain, but I did it.

Next up was the movement. Now, this was the trickiest part. I knew I couldn’t make a real mechanical movement like the Patek Philippe caliber 30-255 PS. That thing is super complicated. So, I just took apart an old watch I had and used that movement. I know, I know, it’s not the same, but it’s something.

Putting it all together was the final step. I carefully assembled everything, the case, the dial, the hands, and the movement. It took a lot of patience. Some parts didn’t fit perfectly, so I had to do some adjustments. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest, but I kept going.
The End Result
And there you have it. My homemade version of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. It took me a while, a good few days of hard work, to be exact. I did my best to make it like the real thing. Does it look exactly like the one in the store? Not really. But hey, I made it myself, and that’s something, right? It’s not perfect, but I’m kinda proud of it. It’s a nice reminder of the time I spent making it. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll save up enough to buy the real deal.
It is not exactly what I saw in the official flagship store, but it’s close enough. It’s not about the money; it’s about the experience. And this was definitely an experience. I learned a lot about watches and how they’re made. And that’s the whole point, I guess. It is a fun DIY project, I did it. Now, I have my own “Calatrava” to wear. It’s not a real Patek Philippe, but it’s my own little creation, and that’s good enough for me.
