I spent the whole weekend tinkering away, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. I decided to remake the Yves Saint Laurent YSL COLLEGE BAG. You know, the one with the classic YSL logo. Yeah, that’s the same brand, even though some folks think they’re different. Turns out, the YSL logo is just a throwback to when they started back in 1961. Cool, huh?
So, I dug out some old leather scraps I had lying around. I remembered reading somewhere that all Saint Laurent bags have a serial number. Usually, it’s on a little leather tab stitched inside a pocket. So, I made sure to mimic that. I cut a small rectangle, pressed a number into it, just like the real deal, and stitched it into the lining. Felt pretty authentic, I gotta say.
Finding Inspiration
I spent hours browsing online, looking at different versions of the bag. I even stumbled upon some used ones on eBay, which was super helpful. I wanted to get the details right, you know? I studied the stitching, the hardware, the way the leather aged. It’s all in the details, right?
The Process
- First, I sketched out the design, making sure the dimensions were spot on.
- Then, I cut the leather pieces, which was a bit nerve-wracking. I didn’t want to mess it up!
- Next, I started assembling the bag, piece by piece. This took the longest, but it was also the most satisfying part.
- I hand-stitched most of it, just to give it that extra touch of craftsmanship.
- Finally, I added the hardware – the chain, the clasp, and of course, the iconic YSL logo.
The End Result
Honestly, it turned out better than I expected. It’s not perfect, but it definitely has that Saint Laurent vibe. It’s got that luxurious feel, that classic elegance. It’s like I captured a piece of that Parisian chic. It might not be the real deal, but I poured my heart and soul into it. And that’s what counts, right? Plus, I saved myself a ton of money, which is always a bonus. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot in the process. Who knows, maybe I’ll tackle another designer bag next weekend. Stay tuned!
