Okay, so, I got this idea to remake the Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG, the original order version. I mean, who wouldn’t want that bag, right? It’s, like, a classic.
I started by looking everywhere for info. You know, just browsing, seeing what deals I could find. It’s like shopping but without actually buying anything yet. I was checking out all these different online stores, but it was just to get an idea, you know? Like, there were some that had crazy sales, like up to 50% off and stuff. Some places even let you split the payments, which is cool, I guess. But it did not fit my need of recreating the same bag.
Anyway, I found out that these bags are pretty popular. Everyone’s selling them. There are, like, a hundred places online where you can find them, and some were offering up to 70% off. But again, that’s not what I was after.
Finding the Materials
First things first, I needed to find the right materials. This bag is made of some seriously nice leather, so I couldn’t just use any old scraps. I spent days checking out different leather suppliers. I touched so many samples, my hands were getting all rough.
I finally found this one place that had the perfect leather. It was buttery soft, but still felt sturdy. And the color, it was this rich, deep shade that was just like the original. I bought a bunch of it, probably more than I needed, but I didn’t want to run out mid-project.
Putting It Together
Next up was the hardware. This bag has these specific buckles and things, and I wanted them to be just right. I searched all over for those, too. Found some online, but they were either the wrong size or just looked cheap. Finally, I stumbled upon this little shop that had exactly what I needed. They were a bit pricey, but I figured it was worth it for the authentic look.
- Cutting the leather: This was the scariest part. I made a pattern based on pictures of the original bag, but actually cutting into that beautiful leather was nerve-wracking. I measured, like, a hundred times before each cut.
- Sewing: I don’t have one of those fancy industrial sewing machines, so I had to do it all by hand. My fingers were so sore after a while, but I kept going. I used this strong thread, and I made sure every stitch was perfect.
- Adding the hardware: This was actually kind of fun. Once the bag was sewn together, I got to attach all the buckles and the strap. It really started to look like the real thing!
The Final Product
After weeks of work, it was finally done. And you know what? It looked amazing. I compared it to pictures of the original, and it was almost identical. I was so proud of myself! I mean, it’s not perfect, there are a few little things that only I would notice, but still. I made a designer bag, basically from scratch!
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I get compliments all the time. People are always asking me where I got it, and they can’t believe it when I tell them I made it myself. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. Now I have a beautiful bag that’s just like the original, but it’s even more special because I made it with my own two hands.
